“Originally from New Jersey, you don't have to be familiar with the Boardwalk in order to appreciate the ice cream and the food. Try all the flavors, delicious. Real home taste in Florida.”

The Combination of great custard and good pricing made me really enjoy this place. I will not be going back to Coldstone to pay 10 dollars for two scoops when I can go to BFG (boardwalk frozen custard) and pay half that and get 4 scoops and toppings. Not only that but the staff was very energetic and informative, who knew how different custard was than ice cream? Not me.

Boardwalk Frozen Custard opening Oct. 8 in Wesley Chapel

The long-awaited taste of original frozen custard served on the boardwalk ‘up North’ can now be enjoyed here in Wesley Chapel.  Boardwalk Frozen Custard will be opening on Oct. 8 in Cypress View Square on State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel.
Jim and Lynn Thomas relocated from New Jersey with a plan to bring a taste of the Boardwalk to this area.  Their frozen Custard is made fresh daily, right before your eyes.  They will offer vanilla and chocolate flavors, along with a “flavor of the day.”  Sundaes, banana splits, milkshakes, old-fashioned sodas, and “blasts” are some of the other treats available.
Nathan’s brand hot dogs and French Fries are also on the menu, along with Salt Water Taffy from Atlantic City, and beverages with additional boardwalk-type favorites also planned.  For more information call Lynn at (813) 991-9800 or visit their website, www.Boardwalkfc.com.

Jim & Lynn Thomas bring Boardwalk Frozen Custard to Wesley Chapel

Cypress View Square on State Road 56 is home to a taste of the Jersey Shore.  Just a short trip from Zephyrhills, Land O’ Lakes and New Tampa with its central location, Boardwalk Frozen Custard is developing a following among Central Pasco residents.  A traditional boardwalk favorite in the Northeast, frozen Custard is being served up and made fresh daily by Jim and Lynn Thomas.
The Thomases came here to bring their favorite childhood treat from the Shore to Floridians.
Their dream came true on Oct. 8, 2007, when they first opened the doors to their 20 seat shop.
Developed in the early 1900s in Coney Island, N.Y., popularity is growing across the country, especially in the Midwest.  Snowbirds here have found a taste that reminds them of home as well.
There are many reasons custard is preferable for many frozen treat lovers over traditional ice cream, and those reasons are all in the process of making and storing it.

Real custard must include over 10 percent butterfat and 1.4 percent egg yolk, which gives it a rich texture and smoothness.   It is all natural and made with no preservatives, which enhances the flavor.  Typically it is served at 18-19 degrees Fahrenheit, as opposed to ice cream that is normally 5-8 degrees.  The thickness comes from the machine beating only 20 percent air into the product during mixing compared to ice cream receiving 75 percent to 100 percent.
Because of the natural ingredients, it is less expensive than ice cream and the soft, smooth texture has already created regulars in the community.

They come to Boardwalk not only for the custard, but also Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and French fries, reasonably priced at $1.99 and $1.79 respectively.  Onion rings are also a favorite among many at only $1.99 per order.  Salt Water taffy is sold by the pound and many other “boardwalk favorites” are planned for the menu in the near future.

The Thomases make fresh batches of vanilla and chocolate every day, as well as one other specialty flavor.  They have a printed calendar so customers can see what the special flavor is going to be each day of the month.  Boardwalk also packages them in half-pint sizes that can be purchased on following days or taken home to enjoy.  You can find flavors like blue raspberry, strawberry, banana, Almond-joy, mud pie, lemon, butterscotch swirl, and sugar free vanilla in the cooler case for $2.49.
When ordering frozen custard, an expansive list of toppings is available.  Everything from fruits like strawberries and pineapple to hot fudge and caramel are options.  They also offer candy toppings like marshmallow, M&M’s, and Reese’s cups and nuts like almonds, walnuts, and pistachios.
The frozen custard pies are another big hit, many being ordered for catered functions and parties.  Variations are chocolate chip, cookies and cream, pumpkin and turtle.  At only $10.99 per pie, they are very reasonably priced; slices can be purchased for $2.49 each.

Other fan favorites are malted milkshakes, the Boardwalk Shake with sundae topping, floats, waffle cones and Blasts with fruit or candy mix-ins.
